ABOUT THE CONFERENCE

In the current era where sustainability is the essence of any construction, the industry demands Civil Engineers to be able to handle challenges faced expeditiously. Civil Engineering practitioners require an overview of Structural Design and Construction Management knowledge for professional excellence. The industry needs to be in harmony with nature and hence a strong interdisciplinary approach is required in resolving any Civil Engineering problems.

SECON, the Conference on Structural Engineering and Construction Management aims to bring together leading academic scientists, researchers and practitioners in the field of structural mechanics, associated computation & structural engineering and construction management to exchange and share their experiences and research results on all aspects of Structural Engineering and Construction Management. It also provides a platform for researchers, practitioners and educators to present and discuss recent and state-of-the-art achievements in the advancement of knowledge and understanding in these areas, to address the challenges that the present and the future pose and the solutions adopted in the fields of Structural Engineering and Construction Management.

SECON-2020 is the Fourth Edition of the Conference on Structural Engineering and Construction Management and is organised by Department of Civil Engineering, Federal Institute of Science and Technology. This International conference with the theme “Innovative Practices in Construction, Rehabilitation and Demolition of Structures” along with seven sub themes will express a wide range of issues to be discussed in the conference. The success and appreciation gained in the previous SECON conferences in 2017, 2018 and 2019 have been remarkable and we are confident that SECON-2020 will bring significant benefits to the participant post graduate students, researchers, practicing engineers, academicians, architects, and developers. The proceedings of SECON-2020 will be published in “ Lectures Notes in Civil Engineering” by SPRINGER.

The Conference aims to thrust the work from industry and academia on the following themes:

  • Sustainability in Construction and Planning

  • Modelling and Simulation studies in Structural Engineering

  • Earthquake Engineering Studies and Structural Dynamics

  • Advanced studies on Foundations

  • Building Information Modelling

  • Building Energy Management

  • Total Quality Management in Construction

  • Modern Civil Engineering Practices

  • Risk Analysis and Management of Natural Hazards
